SPIN Guide

The 'Stavanger Information Guide' is researched and put together by SPIN volunteers and is sold at cost-price plus postage.

Moving to a new country always raises a huge number of questions. Questions which have already been answered by those people who have moved here before you!

The Stavanger Information Guide is intended to help you find your way and start building a network of contacts. It provides wide ranging information, not only useful for new residents, but also a great resource for those already living in the Stavanger area.

The aim of the Guide is both to provide a reference for newcomers before their actual move and in their first months in Stavanger plus ongoing assistance in locating and using required goods and services in general.

The Stavanger Information Guide contains over 210 pages packed with information on:  preparation for your move, logistics, adjustment, work, health, education, religion, transport, shopping, leisure activities, leaving, plus local maps and a glossary of English/Norwegian translations (especially handy at the supermarket in those first confusing weeks!).

For example, in the health section, the Guide explains what to do in case of a medical emergency and includes general information about the national health system in Norway, how doctor's services are organised, where to get your child's vaccinations, what you can find at the pharmacy, which family/child benefits you are entitled to and much more.
